The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) falls within the framework of the integrated common Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Policy.

For the 2014-2020 period, France will receive an overall allocation of 588 million euros from the EMFF budget.

This allocation will contribute to initiatives /measures in various priority areas:

  • Encouraging sustainable, innovative and competitive fisheries,
  • Encouraging sustainable, innovative and competitive aquaculture,
  • Encouraging the establishment of a common fisheries policy,
  • Improving employment and boosting territorial cohesion,
  • Encouraging the marketing and processing of fishery and aquaculture products,
  • Encouraging the establishment of an integrated maritime policy.

In France, the operational EMFF programme is managed by the Direction des Pêches Maritimes et de l’Aquaculture (DPMA) [Fisheries and Aquaculture Directorate] of the French Ministry for Agriculture. The management of a portion of the EMFF measures may be entrusted to coastal regional councils.
